Floaties in my brew
I have made dozens of batches of brew over the years but this is the first time I have "floaties"--as best to describe them in my brew. I made a hex nut brown ale and it was in the secondary fermenter for 4 weeks @ 69ish degrees. When I checked on it today It had dime sized white floaties on the surface. I smelled the brew and it did not smell foul. So, I transfered the brew to a bucket cleaned the caraboy and placed the brew back into the caraboy. The floaties had a consistenancy of fine wet paper. Have I lost this batch?

Re: Floaties in my brew
It sounds to me like a fungus. The general rule is that there's no nasties that grow in beer that'll kill you, so if it tastes good, drink it! Or give it to your friends without mentioning this unfortunate mishap.
