How to add fruit to brew

Postby bschall » Wed Apr 22, 2009 3:32 pm

I'm in the process of making a blueberry wheat, and I'm still pretty new to homebrewing.
Anyway, it's in primary right now, for couple days. And i'm trying to figure out exactly how to add the blueberry, I've got frozen ones.
I've read different article and almost all say to add it to secondary but there are varying opinions on whether to crush them or just add them whole.
My initial plan was to through them in a blender then put them in the secondary and rack beer on top of it.
Anybody know if this is a good idea, or where exactly should I go from here to get the blueberry into the beer?

Thanks

I haven't done this before but I have a friend who made a cherry wheat that turned out really good. He just washed them well and then threw them into the secondary without mashing them up. The brew came out most excellent with a pretty strong cherry flavor.

Blending them up and racking your beer onto it will work just fine.
