I believe that it was OCt. 14 1978 when Jimmy Carter and Congress passed the law allowing us to brew our beers thanks Jimmy just remember everyone thank Jimmy this Sunday!

Yeah, he won the Nobel Peace prize for it too :P

Or wait, maybe that was for his decades of untiring effort to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development.

I can never remember. Both were such monumental acheivements.
