Leinenkugel's Explorer pack
Every Friday I try to make it to my local Bevmo for the beer tasting. This last week they were actually doing tequila
. Any way I was talking to the gentelman that usually runs the tasting and he always fills me in on the new arrivals. I have never been a big fan of fruit beers but I decided to pick up the 12 bottle variety pack. To put it as simply as I can, I was dissappointed. Out of 4 differant kinds I found one that I was even able to drink. The Honey Weiss, almost tasted like beer. The rest of them were so sweet that I am afraid they will live in the back of my beer fridge forever. The other 3 are sunset wheat, berry weiss and summer shandy. I felt like I was drinking liquered up kool aid, not beer. Just my 2 cents. Anyone else tried these?
Prost

Offer them to the gals that come by your place. They seem to enjoy them as a transition beer.

Re: Leinenkugel's Explorer pack
I have never tried a fruit beer and have never thought it sounded like a good idea, but I find some pilsners even are too close to soft-drink (you might not call it soft drink anywhere else, I mean stuff like Sprite and Fanta) all the flavours seem to be not sweet but very tight together if that makes any sense. Was the problem just that these beers were too sweet? I'm trying to imagine it.

Re: Leinenkugel's Explorer pack
the only fruit beer i've had was a cherry wheat that i made last summer, when that was the rage, and it was terrible. but it was on tap out on the patio so i left it there, a week or two ago i tried one and was surprized that it had mellowed out and was really quite good, not sweet at all and a good balance of flavors, just needed some ageing i guess. but i don't think i'll be making another one soon though.

Heavenlyfire,
I'm not a fan of sweet beers either, the bitterer the better if you ask me. It's almost like when you're drinking sweet beer you have to trick yourself into thinking that you're drinking something besides beer. I think Leinenkugel has the sunset which I have had a few times and can drink when I'm in the mood for it.
