I'm liking the all grain thing and think its time for a grain mill.I looked at the 15# mill on Flatfenders sitehttp://cgi.ebay.com/Barley-Crusher-MaltMill-15-home-brew-beer-brewing-/230476495668?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35a9783b34and it looks like a winner. But I don't know a thing about mills so does anyone have some advice on the subject?Pros vrs. Con?
Thanks G
edit: I'm doing 5gal batches and may do some 10gal.

I own a barley crusher, and I think it's a damn good grain mill! I pulled off the handle and hooked my drill up to it to really speed things up. After a lot of tinkering with the gap spacing, I finally got a really good setting for barley that gives me a good crush but leaves the husk intact. Fantastic! My only advice would be to buy one.

It's a bit cheaper here, and shipping to Hot Springs is just a little over 12 bucks.

I bought that exact mill from Jeepguy and I love it. I hooked a drill to it and it works fast with fantastic results. I used it with the factory settings and I am very happy with the crush. I would encourage you to check with Jeepguy on the price. He is a good guy and I know he will do what he can to make the price right, besides, it's nice to do business with forum members.. Take care..

I can make you a deal on a mill. I will see if i can beat others prices on stuff too, just ask. I am a sucker to beat prices and give good deals. Thats probably why i do not make alot!!
I have sold a couple hundred of the barley crushers with only 1 complaint. The base on 1 was broke in shipping. Randy at the barley crusher building place shipped them a replacement for free.
I have been using mine for a couple years now. I do 10 gallon all grain batches. Plus i mill for everybody that buys grain from me. Great mills and very tough.

I'd definitely suggest adjusting the gap spacing to suit your needs. I messed with the spacing for a few batches before I was happy that the crush was as fine as my equipment would allow. I haven't had to readjust anything since.

Your welcome on the mill. If anybody else ever needs one let me know. Or anything for that matter.
I have noticed on some malts i have to change the gap. Wheat is sometimes smaller and some specialty malt is bigger.
I usually just check it by grabbing a handful after its milled and seeing if it looks good.
I have ran at least a thousand pounds through my mill so far and it is still perfect.
Ecept when i dropped it on the pavement and bent the shaft(oops!!) But they sent me a new roller for free since i buy tons of mills from them.
The barley crusher company is great about service also. I had a mill shipped to someone and the wood got broken in shipping. I notified them and they sent a replacement base the next day.
And they are made in the U.S.A also!!
