Petition to shorten the offshore drilling moratorium

Postby GuitarLord5000 » Wed Jun 16, 2010 2:43 am

I figured I'd post this here, to give everyone here the chance to sign this petition, should any of you want to. It's a petition to shorten the 6 month moratorium on offshore drilling.
As many of you know, I'm from South Louisiana, and I work in the oil industry. In fact, I'm writing this from the Green Canyon block of the Gulf of Mexico. The State of Louisiana has two major industries, Fishing and the Oilfield. Without the work provided by these industries, Louisiana is headed for some pretty tough times, economically.
Because of the large quantity of oil spilling into the Gulf, the future of Louisiana seafood fishing is looking pretty shaky right now. If that's not bad enough, the 6 month halt on Offshore Drilling is threatening to destroy the last bit of economy in our state.
I can't say that I believe that this petition will do any good, but I signed it anyway. It certainly can't hurt. I would encourage all of you to take two minutes of your time and sign it as well.

Nice to know there's still checks and balances in our government. At least the judicial branch seems to have their heads out of their a**es.

I'm glad to see that our states won't put up with DC BS!

So far, at least. We'll see what happens during the appeal process. Still, it feels like a win, no matter how small or short lived.

Thanks again, everyone! The petition is up to over 160,000 signatures!
