I just finished brewing my 3rd batch of beer, and thought everything was going fine. I poured the wort into the carboy, pitched my yeast, then went to top it off with my sanitized water that I had boiled a few hours previous when I realized I had never cooled the water. I took the cover off the pot and there was still steam coming off it. Well, I decided to pour it into the carboy anyways. Now I'm worried that I screwed something up, and if so, not sure how to fix it. Or do I just need to dump the batch?

You probably killed your yeast. Just grab another packet of yeast and pitch it once your wort cools.

So I'm happy to say that I checked my beer this morning, and it's fermenting! Happily bubbling away. So maybe I had enough of the cooled wort to prevent the yeast from dying? I dunno, but I'm happy about it!
